Monochromatic spring trend: Mint Chip

I have been falling in love with pastels and sugary-sweet trends. I have even changed my make-up up to reflect my love for candy-hued colors.
mint chip inspiration

ShopRuche recently released their tips for this springs Monochromatic trend, all in different candy-shop colors. I even decided to try it myself. Using inspiration from my mint-chip-ice cream-mood-board

Ruche stylists suggest alternating different hues of the same color or incorporating different textures for a playful look. From statement jewelry to matching accessories, wearing the colors of ice cream has made me very excited this spring.

Rain drops keep falling on my head

It's already MAY! I can't believe how fast this year is going. I Love that even though summer is right around the corner, I'm still being blessed with a little bit of spring rain. Regardless of the weather I was going to wear my "Cats Meow" Dress. It features a white floral collar and a bright orange belt on a navy dress. I simply brought out some dark brown tights hidden away in my fall clothes to make it more weather appropriate.

Moment of Wonder

I recently ordered a blouse from Shopruche and it finally came! I ordered the "moment of wonder bow detail blouse" It's a sheer cream colored blouse with a pastel
lavender biased tape around the edges.
The Floral crown was designed and created by me in a pastel pink.

"Finished with ruffled detailing, this elegant ivory blouse features a front statement bow with dusty purple piping for contrast. Perfected with tiered butterfly sleeves and a hidden side zipper closure. Semi-sheer."

The top is paired with my high-waisted trouser jeans by Old Navy.
It gives it a vintage-sailor feel to my outfit.

Becoming Wadoo

Just when you think your day couldn't get worse as your typing a psychology paper for class, It actually gets BETTER! Your sister-in-law texts you a picture of her ultrasound! 10 weeks. It's the cutest peanut I have ever seen. Keep reading to learn how this relates to being a "Wadoo"

Sisters are, just by nature your best friends, especially as you grow up. I have grown closer to my own two sisters now that we're all married but they both live far away, including my sister-in-law. Sister's-in-law are special in their own way. They come with the benefits of sisters but you don't have any baggage from growing up together. You don't have a past together but you get to build a future together.  One of the best things about sisters are the babies that will become your nieces and nephews. Before they're born you pray for them and love them. You hope with all your heart that they love the lord and will become disciples of their generation.

Chelsea
My sister Cayton is a twin. Her twin's name is Chelsea. Chelsea passed away at the age of five to cancer. Although I never got to grow up with her on earth and I will never get to see her with babies of her own, I still have my sisters Cayton, Madison, and because of God's goodness he gave me a third sister again, Anjel, through my husband. My sister's and I all married a man, who had one sister. Through our marriages we each got our third sister. Not to replace Chelsea, but to remind us how good God is. They are our blessings on this earth and a third earthly sister to get nieces and nephews from.

Anjel my sister-in-law
I'm going to be a "Wadoo" for the first time. It's the first thing I ever started calling my Aunt Laura. I just haven't given it up. It's the name that to me means, your aunt is your best-friend, sister and like your mom, a spiritual mentor. A Wadoo is someone who texts you throughout the week, to see if there is anything she can pray about for you, or just to send goofy pictures to. I have always wanted to be a Wadoo to a bunch of kids. For me it's almost more exciting then becoming a mom. it's just something that I have always been excited about.

Wadoo, sister's Cayton and Madi on her wedding day

It's crazy to think that I am getting to the point in my life where I can understand how and why my Aunt Laura (Wadoo) and my Uncle Doug loved us and cared for us so much. My aunt is like a sister to me. She's actually close to each of my sister's and me. Which is why I can't wait for Anjel to have her baby. We wont know if it's a boy or girl for a few weeks now, but I am so ready to find out. I will love the baby no matter the gender but it will make shopping a little bit easier.

The excitement that comes with finding out your sister is having a baby is insane. I now understand why my Aunt Elaine sprung from her chair and ran around jumping and screaming when my mom announced she was pregnant with me. I did the same thing my aunt Elaine did, when I got the text from Anjel, unfortunately, for me, I was on the toilet.

Decorating with Flowers and Orges

Spring decorating sounds like way more fun than spring cleaning. I had the house to myself today, which I hate more than anything. I get so lonely and sad. So I decided to cheer myself up and put up some decorating touches in my house that definitely say, "Sydney lives here!". I got some cute pieces at World Market, and Joann's which I highly recommend you go get some for your own home.

I got this vintage-inspired hanging flower vase at Joann's. I purchased some silk flowers and popped them in. Viola! The cutest garden that wont die on me. (I do not have a green thumb!).

It looks like a chalkboard on the back but it's really black metal scraps. It is hung by burlap ribbon.

My next items sit on the back of my toilet actually. My goodness, not that you needed to know that or anything. I purchase the milk bottle at World Market.

I bought it to actually store milk in, but it was to cute to properly use. My husband mocks me for decorating our toilet with a milk bottle, It's not like I fill it with milk and encourage
people to drink from it!

The Candle in the picture is also from World Market and something about it makes me feel like I just walked into a Pottery Barn. It's the scent "White Tea Ginger"

Lastly, I got crafty with Modgepodge! Who doesn't love this stuff. Now, I realize This project might make me seem dorky, but the craft goes with the aesthetic of my house
so I decided to go ahead with it.

My favorite TV show is Grimm (Oh and "Once Upon A Time", but that's another blog post). I also own The Grimm Fairy-tales book and I love the twisted stories.
I was so captivated by Nick's bottles of potions in his RV and the decor of the tea shop that I made my own Grimm inspired bottles.

Here are my versions:

Completed and put up on my vanity.

Dead Faint Posion

Siegbarste Gift - A.K.A Orge Posion

Heart Purification Potion

I hope you enjoyed my creative finds and totally geeky craft.
